
8/26/22 – Honor 13 Killed in Kabul Airport
On August 26, 2021, we lost 13 American Heroes in Kabul Afghanistan. On this one-year anniversary, we had a little ceremony to remember them at Northwood Gratitude & Honor Memorial.

Honor fallen troops by lighting a remembrance candle and completing wall rubbings of names at the Northwood Gratitude and Honor Memorial at Northwood Community Park. City staff will be on-site May 29th to assist guests from 4 to 6 p.m.
The City will host its annual Memorial Day Ceremony May 30th, 10 a.m.–12 p.m. at Colonel Bill Barber Marine Corps Memorial Park. A Commanding Officer from Irvine’s adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion will speak and pay tribute to our military fallen.
Michelle De La Cruz and George Terlaak volunteer monthly to help with Irvine’s food drive. Michelle drives to Camp Pendleton each month to help with a food drive for the Wounded Warrior Battalion.
We had a social distanced name reading ceremony at the Northwood Memorial at Northwood Community Park on Memorial Day.
The poppy thrived in Europe After World War I. Beautiful red poppies started growing in the dirt and mud in France and Belgium. Scientists attributed the growth to the soil being supplemented with lime from the rubble left by the war. The red poppy came to symbolize the bloodshed during battle following the publication of the wartime poem “In Flanders Fields.” The poem was written by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, M.D.…

An employment forum on Feb. 24 is scheduled in conjunction with The American Legion Washington Conference at the Washington Hilton, 1919 Connecticut Avenue NW.
